Pulsar Spectra from IR to Gamma-rays.
Abstract
Thanks to the Fermi LAT, the number of detected gamma-ray pulsars has increased to about 100. For some of these pulsars we have analyzed the Fermi LAT spectra jointly with the spectra obtained with INTEGRAL, Chandra, XMM-Newton, HST, and Spitzer. We present a thorough examination of young (e.g., Vela), middle-aged (B0656+14, B1055-52, Geminga) and very old (J0437-4715) pulsar spectra with unprecedented spectral coverage. We compare their multi-wavelength spectral properties (spectra and light curves) and find intriguing evidence for the existence of an extremely broad non-thermal spectral component connecting emission in the optical, hard X-rays and gamma-rays. We also discuss possible origin of such a component and give a brief outlook for IR/optical/X-ray observations of gamma-ray pulsars in the near future.
